Sichuan vendor uses live animals in tiny cages as prizes in ring toss game, netizens strongly disapprove

A vendor in Sichuan has become public enemy number one for many animal-loving netizens after pictures leaked online showing him using live creatures in tiny cages as targets in his ring toss game.

According to China Daily, over 20 live animals -- including rabbits, ducks, birds and turtles -- were spotted in cages outside in Guanghan city's Jinyanhu Park.

Here's how the game works: customers pay 10 yuan for eight plastic rings. If they are able to throw a ring around one of the cages, they get to keep the animal. Meanwhile the helpless woodland creatures can only look.

Unfortunately, the game is really difficult, so that means that most of the creatures are left to roast in the hot sun.

On Weibo, hundreds of users have weighed in to criticize the cruelty of the game:
One netizen named @LgeheHge wrote: "There's nothing wrong with earning some money, but remember that you are a human being as well. You ought to hold onto some humanity. Otherwise, there's no reason to live in this world."
"There's no way these animals have been properly tested for disease. What if a kid feels sick after touching them? Parents keep your children far away from this stand!" web user @Jiangshengtaihe commented.
"I agree. This kind of game won't teach children to respect life. It's just too cruel. Small animals also deserve our respect," @Liuwanhua wrote.
“How about we put the vendor in a cage under the hot sun and play ring toss with him?” @Hefushe suggested.

Remember the good old days when vendors used more innocent targets, like Japanese devils?
