Sichuan university student dresses up as a mermaid to mark World Water Day

Mermaid fever is still raging in China. Yesterday was (apparently) World Water Day, to mark the occasion an attractive Sichuan university student and future flight attendant dressed up like a mermaid.

World Water Day is celebrated annually as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources. It is not to be confused with the movie Waterworld.
This kind of thing is especially important in China. The country faces serious water shortage problems, especially in the arid north. Never one to shy away from a massive undertaking, China has responded by engineering a colossal water diversion project, digging an mind-numbing amount of canals to take water north from the Yangtze River.

Apparently, Li Jia, a first-year student at Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation, was not inspired to take these photos by Stephen Chow's record-breaking hit. Instead, she told reporters that mermaids are very beautiful and she has always dreamed of being one and shooting some pics.

Well, apparently, dreams do come true.
