‘Little Match Girl’ raises awareness for poor children in China
This “Little Match Girl” walked out of Hans Christian Andersen’s story onto a street in Shanghai on Tuesday.
But unlike the original tale in which the poor girl burns all her matches, one after the other, this one was seen handing out matchboxes to passersby.
On the cover of the boxes was printed a QR code, which she asked people to scan in order to donate money to children living in the poverty-stricken mountainous areas of China.
The performance was arranged by Wardrobe of Love, a non-profit organization that works to provide warm clothes to poor children.
